Intellego Kedungu Red Blend:
Inspired by an epic surfing trip while having loads of fun, still with a “babbelas”, this wine was born as a combination of different characters from the Swartland terroir and its diverse micro climate.
Syrah, the backbone of this blend, contributes to the structure and freshness of the wine. Cinsaut adds a lovely mid palate and vibrance with loads of red fruits. Mourvedre are known for great tannin structure and depth as well as darker fruit.
Reenen Borman Kottabos Grenache Syrah
68% Grenache and 32% Syrah. Red and black fruit, floral perfume somewhere between rose and lavender and wild herbs on the nose. Pure fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins – very well handled but not quite as thrilling as the 2017. Alcohol: 13%.
Leeuwenkuil Reserve White Blend
This is a vintage blend of the best whites Leeuwenkuil produces from the Swartland region. 2018 has a delicate nose of white blossoms, apple and just a hint of pepper. The palate offers ripe peach and tangy pineapple flavour with an intriguing underlying chalky minerality which lingers on the finish. 80% Chenin Blanc, 20% blend of: Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Verdelho, Clairette, Chardonnay, Colombar, Viognier.
Julien Schaal Mountain Vineyards Chardonnay
This is Burgundy-style Chardonnay: lightly oaked with a mineral depth and great elegance. The South African sunshine adds warmth, ripeness and creamy richness to the mix making this a great value alternative to more pricey White Burgundies.
Upfront this wine shows deep purple fruit with underlying tones of mocha and maraschino cherries. Freshly crushed white peppercorns play gatekeeper to a palate filled with hints of cloves and burnt oak. This wine is vibrant red in colour, well structured and has a long smooth finish. This wine spent 18 months in the barrel, 90% French Oak and 10% American Oak. Barrel selection was 70% new fill and 30% second Fill.
Jordan Outlier Sauvignon Blanc
This wine is a beautiful illustration of sun-kissed tropical fruits that perform with wonderful intensity against a rich oak frame. Its alluring tropical fruit profile opens up to reveal lively notes of ripe gooseberry and fig which are elevated by sensuous undertones of spiced oak and smoky vanilla. With its alluring wooded character and richly flavoured palate, The Outlier Sauvignon Blanc is the ideal dinner companion. Try something different and pair it with miso-charred aubergine served alongside barrel-smoked tuna.
